Why I offer complimentary consultation is very simple. After many years of practice, I've learned the importance and the power of the therapeutic relationship. In my experience, the stronger the relationship, the greater the client's gains in counselling. And in some very acute situations, the therapeutic relationship can be the very thing that keeps the other motivated to continue working toward a life worth living.
Many insurance companies offer coverage for professional services offered by Registered Social Workers (RSW), Members of Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). So, while fees are not covered by OHIP, many insurance plans may offer coverage for the counselling work we do together.
